About Queensland Drilling & Blasting Services

Field-first drilling and blasting, built for repeatable outcomes.

Queensland Drilling & Blasting Services is a drilling and blasting contractor founded in South East Queensland and delivering work across Australia. We support civil construction, quarry production, mining rehabilitation, and renewable energy projects with a simple operating philosophy: execute the plan accurately, verify it, and deliver predictable outcomes.

Rock doesn’t reward good intentions. It rewards discipline — collar accuracy, consistent depth control, clean boundaries, and safe, compliant execution. When the drilling is right, the blast behaves like a design. When it isn’t, the project pays for it in oversize, backbreak, poor dig rates, vibration complaints, rework, and delays that ripple through every downstream trade.

More About QLD Drilling & Blasting Services

Who we are & What we do

We are a qualified, safety-driven business delivering best-in-industry drilling and blasting solutions. Our teams operate modern equipment, follow structured procedures, and maintain the systems required to perform in high-compliance environments.

We don’t chase “hero” drilling. We build reliable production through:consistent hole qualitydisciplined QA/QCtight pre-start and maintenance routinesclear communication on constraints, mobilisation, and programme timing

We deliver drilling and blasting services across four core environments, each with its own constraints:
Civil construction
Controlled excavation, close proximity works, road and rail cuttings, basements, and staged programmes with services nearby.
Quarries
Repeatable production drilling and blasting to support fragmentation consistency, reduced oversize, improved dig rates, and stable throughput.
Mining & rehabilitation
Reliable drilling performance with disciplined safety systems, reporting, and operational controls that hold up under scrutiny.
Renewables
High-volume drilling where programmes live or die on uptime, cycle time, logistics, and the ability to scale without standards slipping.
Our operating standard
Quality control that’s repeatable and auditable. Exceptional outcomes aren’t achieved by luck. They come from doing the basics relentlessly well every shift, every hole pattern, every shot.

Our quality focus includes:
consistent collar positioning
controlled penetration and depth accuracy
verification where required (bore tracking / auditing)
documented pre-starts and defect reporting
disciplined maintenance to protect uptime
Safety systems that scale

We’re focused on organisational procedures that ensure safe systems of work across multiple sites and states. Our approach is practical and field-ready: compliance that supports production, not paperwork for its own sake.
Licensing, training & compliance
We maintain nationally recognised licences and certifications that support safe and compliant drilling and blasting operations.

Key credentials and capabilities include:
Certificate III in Drilling (National drilling endorsement)
Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety
State-based explosives use: Unrestricted
Recognised Corporate Licence to Use Explosives
Strong compliance culture supported by structured procedures and field auditing

We deliver work across Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, and the Northern Territory, aligning to local regulatory requirements and site-specific standards.
Technology, QA/QC & reporting
Experience only matters if it can be repeated and proven. We use modern tools and systems to support accuracy, safety, and transparency, including:

Drone surveying of face and bench surfaces for safer, precise 3D mapping
Blast design using Orica ShotPlus, optimising fragmentation and vibration control
Strict QA/QC processes to verify alignment and depth accuracy
Experience across non-electric and electronic systems, including Orica UniTronics
Integration with Orica BlastIQ for real-time blast data capture and reporting (where required)
Maintenance & uptime
Most delays aren’t geology they’re breakdowns and logistics.

We protect programme delivery through structured maintenance and reliability systems, including:
Electronic LV and drill pre-starts and maintenance systems
Preventative maintenance scheduling to reduce downtime
OEM parts supported by strong supplier partnerships
In-house capability for servicing and repairs (including hose work and component servicing)
MEX software for daily defect reporting and pre-start checks
Industry involvement
We’re proud to support and contribute to the broader industry, including:

Member and sponsor of the Institute of Quarrying Australia

Committee board member involvement with Women in Quarrying
